Common questions

What is a good savings rate in India?

A common FIRE benchmark is 30% of take-home income — the 'gold line'. Above it, your time to financial independence drops quickly; below it, every extra 5% matters a lot.

Why does savings rate matter more than returns?

Savings rate is the part you control directly. A higher rate both grows the corpus faster and lowers the lifestyle the corpus has to fund, so it moves your FI date more than chasing an extra percent of return.
